Michelle Mairena
Former Intern
Michelle Mairena (any pronouns) is a junior at Stanford University majoring in History with a minor in education.
Her work with YMG has been published in Inside Climate News, MindSite News and The DC Line. In 2018 and 2019, she also received C-SPAN honorable mentions for documentary entries — one about freedom of speech and the other about immigration. For her work in centering youth, Michelle was awarded the Junior League of Miami Uppaluri four-year scholarship. Last October, she was named one of 100 college juniors in the newest class of Voyager Scholars, the scholarship founded by President Barack Obama, former first lady Michelle Obama, and Airbnb co-founder and CEO Brian Chesky.
