Shreya Jyotishi

Assistant Manager of Content and Programs

Shreya Jyotishi is an early-career journalist with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and CLEG (Communication, Legal Institutions, Economics and Government) from American University. At U.S. News & World Report and The Washington Blade, Shreya has reported on travel, politics, LGBTQ+ policy and timely election coverage. While in college, she served as the Editor-in-Chief of both The Aviary, a university publication for women and nonbinary audiences, and Food-Fueled Journal, an undergraduate food science research journal.

Shreya uses her editorial skills to expand student stories by editing stories and social media content, interviewing sources and assisting throughout the reporting process. She also manages YMG’s social media platforms, tracking content performance and using strategic techniques to ensure student content reaches wider audiences. Shreya has a passion for education and ensuring youth understand the importance of journalism within the evolving modern media landscape.

The American University School of Communication awarded Shreya with the Rodger Streitmatter Journalism Prize in 2024, a first place prize for in-class reporting about the presidential election. Shreya lives in Washington, D.C. and is often found exploring new coffee shops, taking long walks and reading local newspapers.
