Hermes Falcon
Current Intern
Hermes Falcon (he/him) is a junior at Bradley University majoring in journalism with a double minor in creative writing and sociology. He joined YMG as a student participant in fall 2020 for our first paid virtual workshop - on surviving and thriving despite trauma and was promoted to intern the following year. He has been published several times in the Washington Blade and his work has also appeared in MindSite News, The DC Line and Yes! Magazine.
In September, he represented YMG on a panel in St. Louis with the Missouri lieutenant governor and the director of the the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ 988 & Behavioral Health Crisis Coordinating Office. At Bradley, Hermes is a contributor to the school’s newspaper The Scout​
A YMG intern since the summer of 2021, Hermes has assisted in every area of the organization, including writing articles, leading production of our quarterly newsletter, posting to our website and assisting with instruction. He is also YMG’s most prolific social media contributor, creating some of the most popular posts on our criminal justice and mental illness-focused TikTok account.

In addition, Hermes e is one of Bradley University’s 12 Fellows scholars, who are chosen for their skills in leadership and teamwork, a member of the university’s English Honors Society and has been nominated to join the Sociology Honors Society. Hermes has also conducted interdisciplinary research with Bradley professors on transmisogyny and its effects on trans men and their journeys towards acceptance.
Hermes is also a volunteer at Central Illinois Friends, which provides safe and confidential HIV/AIDS and STD testing, and has been awarded for his services there.
After graduating from Bradley, Hermes hopes to pursue a master's degree, possibly in investigative reporting. He hopes to continue to report on mental health and other topics that are important to other members of the Hispanic LGBTQ community.
